TF2 is my favorite game of all time but it just lost it's magic for me. That's not because of the bots, and that's not because of the lack of content updates... I just put 2,000 hours into it over the course of a decade and all the good times I had when I was a kid just aren't gonna happen again. It's impossible to replicate the feeling i'd have playing mario kart v2 servers at 2 AM talking to people about the most random shit while people were playing vintage micspam songs with "DJ" in their name, everyone was fawning over the 1 or 2 unusuals you would see on the server, there were still new weapons to try out, keys were 6 ref and a craft had was worth more than 10 cents... god those were good times.
