i was bhopping around on mirage and he couldn't find me (which is not my intent i just be vibin fr}, which i think provoked him to create a thread about ittbh the argument is comparable to "is aiming for headshots fair?" just bc other ppl can do it better, doesn't mean it isn't fair. some people actually want 1-tap guns removed.
my definition of fair, might be different than yours. to me, "fair" is defined as "is this toxic gameplay?", "am i playing how it's meant to be played?" for example spam crouch jumping. is that fair if everyone can do it? no, because people who don't crouch jump are people who want fair play. fair to you might be someone using a cheat, which obviously everybody can agree isn't fair.
i don't think bhopping is useful in combat unless you're trying to get away, and with that you still gotta build up speed. very situational. if you think bhopping is toxic, then it's unfair, but you also probably can't do the tech on that side of the argument. the other side, if everyone can do it, why should it be unfair? if people use speedrun tech in Halo during multiplayer maps, is that fair?

I find it to be very ping dependent, low pop server and I can zoom around at 100ms, but once you start going beyond it's more difficult to sync up. Either way it's greatest use to me is the speed & quietness, as optimal said a while back, aiming goes out the window as you need a lot of attention on it to be consistent. So in a way I'd say it's self balanced enough, in a firefight it's my aim and situation versus yours, there's a million ways to get there

Not quoting since I don’t wanna give you a big boy notification for a post a few months ago like the benevolent supervillain In despicable me.
As someone who can’t bunnyhop, I feel like my higher class peers spit on me and call me names when they bunny hop circles around me calling me fatter and denser than ceelo green’s wallet after releasing the hit single fuck you. The trauma originally encouraged me to rise above and smite them with superior aim and creative solutions when they were on the opposite team than I, but I have since lost those skill sets.
I think we need to look at a product/solution that can up the ante of the movement meta and still ensure equality amongst our slow boys and our fast rabbits. Look at this graph I drew:
Ignore the right half of it. We don’t want to add a solution that makes the server fair and fun for bhopers and non bhopers, as that would take the elitism “I’m better than you scooby doo” aspect out of it and make them sad.
We want to strive for the right side and make everyone’s experience better, from the little boy who doesn’t have a keyboard with the whole alphabet to the tall chad bunny hopper. By adding sneakers that allow specialized roles (detectives, traitors) to sprint for limited amounts of time, we can both make my sad ass happy and add even more to the skill
ceiling of chad bhopers.
That and could you imagine the chaos and satisfaction from killing a traitor just because he went zoom zoom in front of a crowd? Priceless
